Mindi Kacmarynski will talk about the Central Teacher Academy (CTA) program, a three-year collaborative model for preparing prospective teachers, which utilizes the resources of Central College, the Pella Community School District and Pella Christian Grade School. As freshmen, Central education students apply, are interviewed and selected to participate in CTA. Selected students are trained and paired with mentor teachers from Pella Community Schools. Compared to other Central education students, CTA students spend a minimum of an additional 250 hours in mentors’ classroom and attending trainings. Kacmarynskiwill be joined by a panel of current students in the program.
Mindi Kacmarynski is a 1993 graduate of Central College where she was a member of the 1993 softball national championship team. She was the first CTA coordinator until 2006 and returned to the position in 2014. Mindi and husband Rich are the proud parents of five children.
