Students are granted three guest passes per semester and are redeemable starting with move-in day. Please have your student ID and inform the cashier if you plan to use any guest passes. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 protocols, cash and credit are not currently accepted in Central Market for additional meal purchases at this time.

The Hy-Vee Healthy You Mobile units were created to provide a safe and secure place for tests, immunizations and screenings.
Stop by with your health insurance card to get your annual flu shot.

After moving in, families are invited to enjoy a cool treat with SOS leaders before the first student-only session begins.

Parents and family members say their goodbyes as students head to P.H. Kuyper Gymnasium. Welcome Week is in full swing at 4 p.m. and students will become quite busy for the remainder of the weekend!

4 p.m. Turning Over the Class

Your time at Central begins with an official welcome from President Mark Putnam and Student Body President Yana Rouse.
This is a mandatory session for all new students and their SOS leaders.
4:45 p.m. SOS Group Meeting No. 3
Various Locations, departing from P.H. Kuyper Gymnasium
New students, join your SOS group at the conclusion of Turning Over the Class to get to know other new students in your small groups.
This is a mandatory session for all new students and their SOS leaders.
Following Group Meeting New Student Welcome Picnic at Kuyper Lawn

All new students are invited to Kuyper Lawn for a casual dinner on the lawn. Students will travel in SOS groups to and from the event. Please wear comfortable shoes for walking! In case of inclement weather, the picnic will be moved inside the H.S. Kuyper Fieldhouse.
This is a mandatory session for all new students and their SOS leaders.

5:30 and 6:30 p.m. New Student Activity
Ron and Joyce Schipper Stadium
This event promises an engaging, fun opportunity for new students to build numerous connections with one another. This activity will begin immediately following the New Student WelcomePicnic. In case of inclement weather, the event will be moved inside the H.S. Kuyper Fieldhouse.
This is a mandatory session for all new students and their SOS leaders.
8:45 p.m. Floor Meeting With Your RA
Your residence hall area
Meet your floormates and learn about Central’s residential expectations.
This is a mandatory session for all new students.
9:30 p.m. Goose Chase Scavenger Hunt

9 a.m. Spiritual Wellness at Central (Interfaith Focus)
Douwstra Auditorium
Join Chaplain Joe Brummel and the Campus Ministries team for a special look at the different aspects of spirituality at Central. There will also be a brief service with a challenge from Chaplain Joe. Attendance is optional. All are welcome!

Our Sustainable Campus
In a fun and fact-filled Q&A with current students, faculty and staff, learn what Central is doing to be a leader in sustainability education and how you can get involved.

ALICE Training
There are more ways than one to be prepared for a violent event. ALICE Training prepares us for a violent intruder event, introducing individuals to a new set of skills that will greatly increase odds of survival during a violent intruder situation.

Title IX: It’s On All Of Us.
Central’s Title IX Coordinator, Peggy Fitch will provide important information and new developments related to Title IX and what it means for students at Central.

Introduction to Wellness at Central
At Central, we know the choices you make about your health and well-being impact your success in college. This session will introduce students to the seven-dimension, holistic model of wellness, which is integrated into students’ activities inside and outside the classroom.

Meet Katelin Valster, lecturer of exercise science and the pre-health advisor, and learn more about the opportunities and requirements of the preparatory health programs on campus for athletic training, chiropractic medicine, dentistry, general medicine, nursing, occupational therapy, optometry, physical therapy, podiatric medicine and veterinary medicine.
Attendance is highly recommended for all new students interested in a pre-health program.
9 – 10:10 a.m. Academic Exploration Sessions
Learn more about the academic department(s) in which you might participate. You’ll find out about experiential opportunities available to you, complementary fields of study and opportunities post-graduation. Information is the same at each session, so you have the opportunity to attend multiple sessions to meet your interest needs. Attend the sessions that are of interest to YOU.
