About Elena Vishnevskaya

Elena Vishnevskaya has taught at Central College since 2006. She has published refereed articles and book chapters on the history of Christian thought and cross-cultural religious encounters. At Central, Vishnevskaya has taught courses in Christian history, world Christianity, Christian spirituality and Eastern Christianity. She has also introduced Central students to the world of Fyodor Dostoevsky in an interdisciplinary senior seminar. Vishnevskaya’s most recent offering is a course on Taoism and Confucianism, which reflects her new research interest. Vishnevskaya is the 2011 recipient of the Dr. John Wesselink Award for Outstanding Performance in Effective Teaching and the 2023 recipient of the Dr. John Wesselink Award for Achievement in Scholarship Having Direct Impact on Classroom Teaching.
