actuarial science education
Mark Mills has taught at Central College since 1999. During the 2006-07 school year, he worked part-time in the test lab at Pella Corporation to learn how mathematics and statistics were used in the working world. He developed the actuarial science major in 2009 and has been modifying the major, as necessary, to meet changing educational requirements by professional actuarial organizations. In 2012, Mills took and passed actuarial Exam P (Probability) and in 2014, he took and passed actuarial Exam FM (Financial Mathematics).
Mills was the class dean for the class of 2022, and he is currently serving as the class dean for the class of 2024.
In his free time, he spends time with his wife and two children. Mills is an avid fan of the Nebraska Cornhusker football team–and college football, more generally. He (mostly) enjoys running, and he has run numerous half-marathons, as well as running the Des Moines marathon in 2014. Mills is a past recipient of the Frank W. Moore Faculty Award.
