Students Concerned About The Environment (SCATE)

Founded in 1987, SCATE aims to promote environmental awareness in the Central College community by providing opportunities to serve, learn and enjoy the environment.

Previous club activities and events include Adopt-a-Highway cleanup (conducted twice a year), work day at Big Rock Park, presenting Environmental Health issues at the Health Fair, a recycling initiative on campus to promote a recycling bin in every dorm room, conducting several petition drives and activities to raise environmental awareness, a Vegetarian Dinner and supporting the Focus the Nation and National Teach-in events.

Fostering Community

Central College’s partnership with the By Degrees Foundation fosters community with students from underrepresented backgrounds and builds bridges connecting students to educational opportunities beyond high school. North High School’s 2024 graduates are the first class to partner with Central since third-grade year. Congratulations. We can’t wait to see what’s next!
