Central College Peace Mall

The pond is the centerpiece of the Central College campus and along with it the Peace Mall. From the Lemming Race, which has been a college tradition since 1977, to gennis and outdoor classes, the Peace Mall is a gathering space that students cross on the way to classes and where they lounge, study and enjoy Iowa’s four seasons.

Peace Mall was originally created in 1964. In 2019-20, Peace Mall was renovated, and many new features added, including a reimagined history garden, a new amphitheater and an improved walkway around the chapel.
