To associate professor of physics Liz Golovatski, teaching means guiding students to lightbulb moments in the classroom and launching them into successful careers after graduation. She enjoys working with a variety of students through classes that span from entry-level physics to senior-level quantum mechanics.
Golovatski has become passionate about developing innovating curriculum even to the point of writing her own textbook. When she recognized a need for updated teaching materials in the field, she took it upon herself to provide the necessary resources. Golovatski also strives to set an example for women in STEM to break barriers in a male-dominated field. For all her students, she invites diverse perspectives to the table and encourages continual academic growth.
Golovatski’s favorite part about Central College is the people. She credits the close relationships between faculty and students for the tightknit community across campus and beyond. She enjoys staying in touch with Central graduates and learning about all their accomplishments.
To prospective students, Golovatski underscores Central’s supportive community: “You’ll work hard, but we’re going to be there for it.”
