Anna Dennis ’27 chose Central College for the small class sizes, strong education program and numerous opportunities to continue playing music. As she pursues majors in English and education, the Davenport native finds joy in applying the lessons she learns in her college classrooms to growing as a future educator.
On campus, Dennis stays busy with A Cappella Choir, Symphonic Wind Ensemble, the Flying Pans Steel Band and the Dutch Boom Drumline. She also works as a Resident Advisor, commonly referred to as an RA. Her campus involvement has brought her friendships and memories that continually inspire her to build meaningful connections that extend beyond Central.
For Dennis, becoming a teacher means fostering a classroom where students feel comfortable developing and using their own voices. She envisions her future classroom as a safe space grounded in curiosity, growth and mutual support.
“I really want to be the teacher that I wish I had,” she says.
