“I’m literally the BIGGEST — and fuzziest — Central fan of them all!”
– Big Red
Major: Campus Life
Minor: Dutch History
Study Abroad: Pella, Iowa
Interests: Cheering on the Dutch and helping students discover their greatest potential!
Favorite Activities: I love greeting visitors, making new friends, roaming around Central’s beautiful campus and frolicking through the tulips. I also enjoy snacking on a caramel bar from Central Market or a Dutch letter from one of the local bakeries, relaxing by the pond and cheering Central students toward success!
Favorite Color: Red
Fun Fact: I wasn’t around when Central was founded in 1853, but I’m literally the BIGGEST — and fuzziest — Central fan of them all!
Hi, friends! My name is Big Red. I’m Central College’s mascot and biggest cheerleader! I support Central students in their 100-plus student involvement opportunities.
I’m a lion (if you couldn’t tell), and you can find my likeness on the royal coat of arms of the House of Nassau from the Netherlands. I represent both our strong Dutch heritage and Central’s core values. I welcome everyone with open paws! And, like me, Central students are a unique breed — they strive to achieve beyond their own expectations while also helping those around them.
You can catch me at athletics events and other student activities on campus. When you see me, don’t be afraid to say hi and take a selfie! Until then, check out this fun playlist I created with the help of the Central family.
My family tree is full of past Central mascots. So, while Central’s mascot has changed over the years, the mascots’ mission to support the Central family has never wavered. GO DUTCH!
