Students to Stewards

A Legacy of Love
Wilma Damhof Hoekstra ’45 and ’69 and her late husband Tony Hoekstra ’61 established a legacy of love for Central College that has persisted for over 80 years and multiple generations. As a mother of six, grandmother of 17, great-grandmother of 42 and a teacher of hundreds, Wilma’s lifelong passion for learning was cultivated while attending Central. This ultimately led to a career as one of Pella’s most beloved first-grade teachers at old Lincoln Elementary School.
Building Bonds
Central’s chemistry program allows students to dive into research and academics that prepare them for rewarding careers. Jay Wackerly, associate professor of chemistry, guides students into real-world chemistry problem-solving.
Poetry in Motion
